Journal Assignment #4: Shadows (due Class 6 -Feb. 27th, 2019 to be posted on Blogger - Home Page)

The concept of duality - two realities existing at once - is exemplified in observations of the relationship between light and darkness (yin-yang means literally "light-dark"). This week, try to notice lighting's counterpart - what essentially would not exist without light, that element of design which is most powerful when considered alongside light: shadow. Post 3-5 images of shadows you experience this week and give them each your own title - feel free to be creative and have fun with this one!

Journal Assignment #5: Reflections (due Class 7 - March 6th, 2019 to be posted on Blogger - Home Page)

In some ways, light is much like sound: it is a wave, you can't perceive it traveling, but you can predict how it will and perceive it's effect when it arrives. The first law of travel for light is the the angle at which light intersects a reflective surface is equal to the angle it will have reflecting off that surface.

This week, look for reflected light. Post 2-3 images of reflections you experience this week and give them each your own title. We are not looking for reflected imagery - like your reflection in the mirror or water's surface - but the patterning created by light reflected from mirror, glass, water, or other reflective surface. Here are two examples:
