Allie Clark-Layers of Light

Photo #1 was taken at the Harvard Square T Station: I chose this photo for its uses of Accent, Task and General lighting. Accent lighting is used along the wall to highlight the architecture and illuminate the advertisements the T will run as you wait for the next train. Task lighting is used in the tunnel to light the tracks and guide the train. General lighting is given off from the recessed lighting throughout the station. I also liked the use of warm/cool general lighting (I’m assuming to reduce glare for the trains.)

Photo #2 Was taken inside a restaurant: Several layers of light are in use in this function room. Decorative lighting is being displayed from the sphere pendant lights hanging overhead. Accent lighting is being used to highlight the television as a focal point and display the wine offerings. General lighting is being given off from the recessed lighting built into the wood panels.

Photo#3 Taken in my office (Unispace): Sometimes inspiration hits close to home. My offices cafe space uses decorative lighting as a focal point above the kitchen island. Accent lighting is used along to perimeter of the wall (to highlight the tile) and along the flood under the bench. General lighting is being given off from the tracking lighting hanging from the ceiling.
