Natasha Berg Three Layers of Light

Location:

The Boston Design Center in the Seaport District

Lobby:

In the newly renovated front lobby of the design center they showcase a few types of lighting.
In the picture below is the main walk-in. The three layers of light are focal, ambient, and decorative. They highlight the architectural wooden beams on the side walls and the ceiling with focal lighting. In the back near the stairwell is some ambient lighting. The cement columns adorn decorative wrap around sconces to again highlight the architecture of the space. This lighting makes you feel welcome with a warm light and impressive architecture features

Christopher Peacock Showroom:

This kitchen in this showroom is one of my favorites. The three layers of light are task, ambient, and decorative. The lighting under the cabinets and the stove area is task lighting. In this space the Chandeliers are more decorative than ambient. The ambient light is the spot lighting on the ceiling which brightens the space as a whole. The lights are all a whiter lamp which makes sense for a kitchen setting.

The system 7 showroom:

This showrooms three layers of light are ambient, decorative and accent. In the main space you have a circular chandelier which helps with lighting the space as a whole though ambient lighting. The recessed square ceiling spots is accent lighting for that wall and seating area below. Then you have the little decorative sconce on the wall for decorative light. Overall it’s a well lit space with a mix of white light in the chandelier and warmer light on the accent and decorative lighting to bring warmth to the space.
