I was in Trident Booksellers this week and was not particularly pleased with the lighting. I found the overheard fluorescent lighting to be too glaring and sterile-feeling based on the color temperature.
In terms of the Flynn Attributes:
- Strong visual clarity
- Created a somewhat spacious feel even though books and merchandise are crammed everywhere
- I disliked the lighting arrangement overall as it was too overhead in the main book areas without any dynamic layers of lighting
- Created a feeling more so of alertness than relaxation
- Public space
In terms of the Flynn Modes:
- Too bright in my opinion - in one area track lighting illuminating bookshelves creates glare if you're standing in front of the shelves
- Pretty uniform arrangement
- Central and overhead
- Too cool color temperature - I wish it felt warmer
